Across the nation, family farms and ranches are disappearing at an alarming rate. The contributions of Elbert County’s farming and ranching families have withstood the pressures of growth, changes in farming methods, storms and drought, and economic conditions to preserve these important pieces of our state and county’s history. Centennial Farms & Ranches Banquet Centennial Farms & Ranches Banquet
This year the Elbert County Fair and Elbert County Historical Society in partnership with the Elbert County Fair Foundation are excited to announce the second annual Centennial Farms & Ranches Banquet, an evening honoring our Western Heritage.
This special event will celebrate the five new Elbert County family farms and ranches to have been designated through History Colorado's Centennial Farm & Ranch Program and honor the existing farms and ranches already designated. Banquet tickets include a delicious beef entrée dinner and program that is sure to entertain, as well as educate. The Centennial Farms & Ranches Banquet will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Exhibit Building on the Elbert County Fair Grounds, with doors opening at 6:00 PM and dinner served at 6:30 PM by Elbert County 4-H program members. The evening will feature the toe-tapping, feel-good music of FRESH APPLES, featuring Doc Rolland & Meryl Brown, and include a special presentation on one of Elbert County’s Centennial Farms and Ranches through the 4-H program.
This “must not miss” event is open to the public with pre-purchased tickets, and anyone who would like to celebrate the contributions of Elbert County's historic farming and ranching families is invited to attend. Tickets are limited and will not be available at the door. Please plan to make an evening out of it and join us on Saturday, July 26th and get your tickets today before they are gone! Stay after the banquet for free live music and fireworks on the fairgrounds!

Entertainment

FRESH APPLES' toe-tapping feel good music features Doc Rolland & Meryl Brown's tight vocal harmonies and stellar fiddle and guitar playing. FRESH APPLES performs an eclectic mix of originals and fresh arrangements of traditional folk & country, bluegrass, humorous, and old-time music. Doc and Meryl's playful synergy, good old-fashioned humor, lively audience participation and just plain having fun make each FRESH APPLES performance special.

Doc Rolland (vocals, fiddle, mandolin, guitar) celebrates over 50 years as a professional performer and fiddle teacher. He’s a 3-time Certified Division National Fiddle Champion and an Arizona State Fiddle Champion, and for years he ran Rolland Fiddle Camp in Colorado. Nine international tours and several hundred fiddling-trainees make it hard for Doc to escape being called an Arizona fiddle legend.

Meryl Brown (vocals, guitar, mandolin) adds powerful vocals that are a highlight of the FRESH APPLES sound. With her roots in country and folk with a little bit of old rock and blues, she can belt it out or soften it up. She offers some free-spirit twists on FRESH APPLES’ song arrangements. Meryl is an avid songwriter as well.

FRESH APPLES music is available on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music and many other music streaming platforms.
