Our 2025 Parade Marshal

We were proud to honor Susan Sewald as the Parade Marshal of the 2025 parade! A respected leader and dedicated member of our community, Susan has made lasting contributions through her years of volunteer work with Elbert County 4-H. From serving as a swine leader and Quiz Bowl coach to capturing the special moments of each county fair with her remarkable photography, Susan’s commitment and passion have touched countless lives.

With a spirit that truly embodies the heart of our celebration, Susan will lead this year’s parade with pride, joy, and unwavering community spirit. Join us in honoring her legacy and celebrating the values that bring us all together!

2025 Elbert County Fair Parade Marshal was Susan Sewald. Susan is the first to tell you she doesn’t know why she was selected to receive such an honor, but anyone who’s been a part of the Elbert County Fair for the past 25 years knows that her involvement and contributions make her more than deserving. The number of roles she’s volunteered for and hours she’s put in over the years are extensive. She has always gone above and beyond as a leader and the memories she’s captured behind her camera have given countless 4-H families mementos that they can cherish forever.

Susan was raised in Phoenix, AZ and later moved to Colorado where she married Bill Sewald. 4-H was something that she knew nothing about, but she soon learned. The Sewald family was heavily involved in the agricultural community and Susan’s exposure to her nieces and nephews 4-H projects became of strong interest to her. Susan and Bill have three kids (Dan, Rebecca, and Jacob) and all were involved in a variety of 4-H projects. All three focused on showing livestock every year including; market cattle, poultry, sheep, pigs, and were involved in livestock judging, and shooting sports. Other 4-H and fair programs they were involved in included; Livestock Quizbowl, horse project and gymkhana, shotgun, .22 and archery, and Decorate Your Duds and fashion review. Rebecca was also Fair Princess and Queen which led Susan to becoming a volunteer with the royalty program, taking their Royalty pictures for many years, and helping out when she could. No matter what the project was, Susan helped her kids, and others maximize learning and participation, and have fun through this youth program that she grew to think so highly of.
